Abstract
Analyzing the 934 cases of bone marrow studies performed at the Department of
Clinical Pathology, Seoul National University Hospital during the last 5 years, the
authors also studied on the cases which show more than 2% of bone marrow
plasmocytosis. The results are summeriged as follows:
1. 92 cases (9.8%) among the 934 cases of bone marrow studies show more than 2%
of marrow plasmosytosis.
2. In general, the older patients showed the more marrow plasmocytosis, and this
tendency was more prominet in 30 cases of aplastic anemia.
3. Diseases with most prominent bone marrow plasmocytosis other than multiple
myeloma were aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, leukemia (especially acute myeloid)
and malignancies, and some cases of collagen diseases and liver cirrhosis also showed
considerable plasmocytosis.
4. In 114 cases of aplastic anemia there were 30 (26.3%) bone marrow plasmocytosis
cases and the mean plasma cell per cent was 5.9 (2-13%)
